Sashi’s comedy is commentary on the daily absurdities of language and life – from doors to crows to self-serve checkouts.
She also draws on growing up in the Sri Lankan community living in Australia and her former life as a refugee lawyer, which started in Perth and took her to Manila, Ankara, Dar es Salaam, Cairo and Bangkok over a decade.
She came to Melbourne to do her Masters in Law and started doing comedy. She’s now found gigging all around the town and thoroughly enjoys doing too many things at the same time
Her debut solo show ‘Endings’ earned Sashi a Best Newcomer nomination at the 2023 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and its run in Australia and the UK was sold out. The improviser, writer and yarn spinner was also featured as ‘One to Watch’ at the UK Funny Women Awards.
In 2024 Sashi’s show “Boundaries” toured Australia nationally, along with sold shows in the UK, Europe and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
