Multicultural NSW of the New South Wales Government has extended a sponsorship to upgrade the Ozlanka Community Website. Ozlanka is very grateful to Multicultural NSW for this timely sponsorship, as an upgrade was essential to maintain and improve the services to the Sri Lankan Community living in New South Wales.
Ozlanka community website operates for all Sri Lankans in Sydney, NSW including Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, Burgher and Malay communities. Ozlanka hosts the community event calendar, publishes local news of interest to the community, accommodates sharing photos and videos in particular from community events, hosts community publications, publishes latest Sri Lanka news and current affairs and much more. With the new upgrade, Ozlanka plans to extend the services further.
Ozlanka Community website (ozlanka.com) was established in 1999 by the distinguished community member Imtiaz Issadeen. After 20 years of continuous operation by Imtiaz, in September 2019, Ozlanka was transferred to the Sinhalese Cultural Centre, Not-for-Profit organisation, a Registered Charity in Australia NSW, to continue the community service to the Sri Lankan Community in Sydney.

Wow, Excellent.
It is with great pride that I see the huge improvements that you have done to Ozlanka.
My decision to transfer Ozlanka to SCC was the right path.
Please keep up the good work. Thank you
Thank you Imtiaz. SCC is really grateful for transferring Ozlanka – “20 years of legacy” to SCC. Ozlanka is for the whole Sri lankan Community – Let’s continue the legacy!
Nice to see the big improvements. This is truly a great website for all Sri Lankans in Australia. Great job done.
I had the privilege of contributing an article for the first issue of Ozlanka.com when Imtiaz kick-started it 20 years back. It was Imtiaz who insisted that I write an article. I said,”Imtiaz, I have never written a health article in my life and now I am getting cold feet when you insist”
So, the first article I wrote was on ‘How good Coconut is for your health’. Brick bats started flying from everywhere condemning me for saying that coconut is healthy when the consensus of opinion during that era was assumed to be not heart friendly being a saturated fat. Imtiaz, took it off promptly, but insisted that I should write further on different health topics.
He then made me addicted to writing articles, and because of his insistence, over the years I have been producing over 400 articles. Most of those article are now in my website which he created for my 90th birthday as his gift- http://www.Doctorharold.com
I was given the opportunity to be a guest speaker on the 10th year celebration of Ozlanka organised by Siva of Blue Elephant, and it was a most successful night attended by over 200 guests, and a most proud moment for Imtiaz and his wife Kimie.
After 20 years of persistent hard work, formatting and planning the website, Imtiaz has been self-rewarded and by the enthusiastic viewers, globally, for pioneering such a wonderful community organ that contributed such a wealth of information on current happenings, including all social events in Sydney. His dedication, and the voluntary service he has contributed will remain in the minds of our generation, and now that Nihal has taken over, has updated in his own style, and today, I am told the website is glanced by over 20,000 viewers. Keep up the good work Nihal, and we are there to back you up.
